As a result, there's a wave of new users coming into Dreamwidth. newcomers is a new community, in the tradition of twitter_refugees and reddit_refugees, for people who are just getting started on Dreamwidth, and experienced users who want to welcome them. It features resources on how to use Dreamwidth in hopes of helping newcomers get settled here so they want to stick around.

If you arrived in an earlier wave, consider helping the folks who are just coming in this one.
You can help by watching for new users and referring them to these or other resources. Please forward widely, and you may copy this paragraph (or use a longer piece from the community) to reblog or crosspost it.

The 2024 Rose and Bay Awards are now open for nominations! Please make your nominations and pass the word to all the crowdfunders you know and encourage them to participate. It would be especially helpful for folks you know via places like Kickstarter or Patreon, as I'm not on those sites.

Are you hoping to make new friends here on Dreamwidth? Consider doing the sunshine_challenge this year. While not as big as the snowflake_challenge in January, it is a lively event that draws more traffic to participating blogs. Lots of folks do this as a fanwork creating event, but you could just as easily do original work, make it a photo scavenger hunt for flowers, or whatever else inspires you.
